ESTONIAN KENNEL UNION SHOW REGULATIONS

0. Definitions.

CACIB ‘Certificat d’Aptitude au Chapionnat International de Beauté de la FCI’ – award for the title ‘International Beauty Champion’.

SERT (CAC) – award for the title Estonian Show Champion.

International Show – a Show for all the FCI-approved breeds, entered in the Estonian Kennel Union (EKU) official Show Calendar and authorised by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). On the International Show the dogs compete for the nomination of CAC/JUN CAC and CACIB.

National Show – a Show for all the EKU-approved breeds, entered in the EKU official Show Calendar. On the National Show the dogs compete for the nomination of CAC/JUN CAC.

Group Show – a Show for one or more FCI Groups, entered in the EKU official Show Calendar. On the Group Show the dogs compete for the nomination of CAC/JUN CAC.

Speciality Show – a Show for one or several EKU-approved breeds, entered in the EKU official Show Calendar. On the Speciality Show dogs compete for the nomination of CAC/JUN CAC.

1. General Provisions.

1.1. The following Regulations must be followed on all the Shows entered to the official EKU Show Calendar.

1.2. Applying for the Show:

1.2.1. While granting the permission to organise the Show, EKU Board takes into account the number of participants on previous Shows as well as the quality of the previous Shows organised by the same organisation.

1.2.2. In case serious flaws in the quality of organising the Show are found, EKU Board may refuse to grant the Shows to the organisation next year and/or withdraw the Show(s) already confirmed.

2. Show application.

2.1. Each EKU member-organisation may apply for one Show per year for the breeds Shown in the organisation’s Statute. Each EKU member-organisation may apply for additional Shows.

2.2. International Shows:

2.2.1. EKU Board confirms the number of International Shows per year. The right to organise an International Show is granted either listwise or separately for each year.

2.2.2. International Shows can be applied for only by Regional Societies.

2.3. National Shows.

2.3.1. EKU Board confirms the number of National Shows per year and to whom the right to organise the National Show is granted.

2.3.2. For National Show the Regional Societies may apply as well as the Breed Societies where breeds from several Groups belong to. Joint ventures of different Breed Societies are approved.

2.4. Group Shows.

2.4.1. EKU Board confirms the number of Group Shows per year and to whom the right to organise the Group Show is granted.

2.4.2. For Group Shows the following EKU member-organisations may apply:

-               Regional Society;

-               Breed Society/Societies for the Group(s) their breed(s) belong to. One additional Group may be engaged. Joint ventures of Breed Societies are also approved.

2.5. Speciality Show.

2.5.1. EKU Board confirms the number of Speciality Shows per year and to whom the right to organise the Speciality Show is granted.

2.5.2. Society may apply only for the Speciality Show of the breed(s) that belong to the given Society. The breeds may be from different Groups.

2.6. The applications for International Shows must reach the EKU Board latest one year and a three months before the date of the Show applied for, but no earlier than four years before the date of the given Show. The application, after being confirmed by the EKU Board, will be forwarded to FCI by the EKU Office for confirmation.

2.7. The applications by EKU member-organisations are only proceeded after EKU has decided upon the dates of EKU-organised Shows.

2.8. The applications for National, Group and Speciality Shows must reach the EKU Board latest on July 1st of the previous year but no earlier than two years before the date of the given Show.

2.9. The Organising Committee of the Show is responsible for receiving the approval of all the institutions concerned.

2.10. The Show may be cancelled, the date and/or place changed only with the permission of the EKU Board.

2.11. If a Show has to be cancelled, the organiser must partly refund the entry fees that have been paid.

3. Restrictions

3.1. The International Show cannot be held on the same date as the ‘European Winner’ Show and ‘World Winner’ Show in case the later are held in Europe.

3.2. Two National Shows cannot be held on the same date. Thow National Shows may be held the same weekend only in case breeds and Groups are judged on different days at the two Shows.

3.3. A Speciality or a Group Show can be held on the same weekend as a National or International Show only in case the given breed(s) are judged on different days. Only EKU Board may grant exceptions.

4. Special Requirements to Admission of Dogs

4.1. On the International Shows only the breeds approved by the FCI may participate. On National, Group and Speciality Shows both the breeds approved by the FCI as well as those approved by the EKU may participate.

4.2. The FCI nomenclature of dog breeds must be followed.

4.3. The dog must be registered with the Studbook or with the annexe (waiting list) of an FCI member country or of an FCI non-member country whose Studbook is recognised by the FCI.

4.4. The dogs and/or owners who have a ban on Showing currently in effect cannot enter the Show. The list of given dogs and owners is available in the EKU Office.

4.5. In case the dog entered dies, the entry fee is returned provided an affirmation by the veterinary is presented. The entry fee is also returned in case the judge may not judge the given dog.

5. Special Requirements on Participants

5.1 All dogs must either have a microchip or a clear ID-tattoo. The organiser must provide the means for checking the tattoo/micro-chip.

5.2 The dog must be vaccinated following the requirements set by the Estonian Veterinary Office and the EKU.

5.3 Sick or lame dogs, or those which Show atrophy of the testicles, and bitches which are clearly with puppies or lactating must be excluded from any Show.

5.4 The judging of docked and un-docked or cropped and un-cropped dogs must be done without any discrimination.

5.5. On the shows, dogs with docked tail and/or cropped ears, born in Estonia after 01.01.2006 may not be presented. Pointing and ferreting dogs, whose docking/cropping is allowed by Animal Protection law § 9 section 2, may participate the shows.

5.6 Using any substances that affect the colour or structure of the skin, coat or nose of the dog is forbidden.

5.7 Trimming and clipping are forbidden on the Showground, exept on special areas designated for this purpose by the Organising Committee.

5.8. Members of the Organising Committee as well as people working on the Show may not handle any dog(s) on the given Show.

6. Catalogue.

6.1. Notes on Catalogues:

6.1.1. International Show: FCI CACIB õigusega rahvusvaheline näitus – International Show with attribution of the CACIB of the FCI “.

The cover-page of the Catalogue must clearly be marked with the FCI and EKU logos and the following expression: “Rahvusvaheline Künoloogiline Föderatsioon – Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI)”.

6.1.2. National Show: Sertifikaadiõigusega rahvuslik koertenäitus (National Show with attribution of the CAC).

The cover-page of the Catalogue must clearly be marked with the EKU-logo and the following expression: Eesti Kennelliit.

6.1.3. Group Show: Sertifikaadiõigusega rühmanäitus (Group Show with attribution of the CAC).

The cover-page of the Catalogue must clearly be marked with the EKU-logo and the following expression: Eesti Kennelliit.

6.1.4. Speciality Show: Sertifikaadiõigusega erinäitus (Speciality Show with attribution of the CAC).

The cover-page of the Catalogue must clearly be marked with the EKU-logo and the following expression: Eesti Kennelliit.

6.2. The Catalogue must contain the list of breeds presented on the Show as well as all the information both in Estonian and in English.

6.3. The rules for filing a complaint and the size of the surety should be Shown in the Catalogue. The latter should not be higher than double the entry fee.

6.4. The Competition Classes must be entered to the Catalogue in the following order:

-         Puppy Class (6-9 months);

-         Junior Class (9-18 months);

-         Veteran Class (from 8 years);

-         Intermediate Class (15-24 months);

-         Open Class (from 15 months);

-         Champion Class (from 15 months);

-         Working Class (from 15 months);

-         Breeder Class;

-         Progeny Class;

-         Brace Competition.

6.5. On all the dogs the following data should be presented in the Catalogue:

-         Name;

-         Titles;

-         Studbook number;

-         D.O.B.;

-         ID number (tattoo or the micro-chip code);

-         Names of the Sire/Dam;

-         Titles of the Sire/Dam;

-         Breeder’s name;

-         Owner’s name and address.

6.6. Only the officially confirmed International and National Champion titles as well as other titles may be published (up to 50 letters).

6.7. In case the dog has obtained at least 7 National Champion titles or 7 National Winner titles, the following expressions can be used in the Catalogue: MULTI CH, MULTI W.

6.8. Dogs that are not in the Catalogue cannot be judged, unless authorisation is given by the Organising Committee (e.g. problem in the printing process etc.).

7. Classes

7.1. Double entries (except Breeder Class, Progeny Class and Brace Competition) as well as late entries after the closing date set byt the Organising Committee are not permitted.

7.2. The following Competition Classes are recognised:

7.2.1. Classes in which the CAC and CACIB (CACIB only in International Shows) can be awarded:

-         Intermediate Class (15-24 months);

-         Open Class (from 15 months);

-         Working Class (from 15 months);

-         Champion Class (from 15 months).

7.2.2. Classes in which the JUN CAC can be awarded:

-         Junior Class (9-18 months).

7.2.3. Classes that do not compete for the awarding of CAC, JUN CAC and/or CACIB:

-         Puppy Class (6 to 9 months);

-         Veteran Class (from 8 years).

7.2.4. Breeder Class.

         The title Best Breeder is awarded. Only one Breeder Group per breed may be presented by a breeder.

7.2.5. Progeny Class.

         The title Best Progeny Class is awarded.

7.2.6. Brace Competition.

         The title Best Brace is awarded.

7.3. The decisive date in respect of age is the day the dog is shown.

7.4. Working Class is available only for the breeds from whom the working trial is required by FCI, as well as for the breeds who may compete in Coursing/Luring. For entering a dog to the Working Class the following requirements must be met:

-         In case of International Show, the entry-form must be accompanied by a copy of the FCI Working Certificate or an excerpt from the Coursing/Luring licence card, containing the confirmation, by the member country in which the holder and/or owner has his/her permanent place of residence, that the dog has passed the trial as well as details of the given trial. It must be ensured that the result of this trial is valid in accordance with FCI regulations.

-         In case of National, Group or Speciality Show, the entry-form must be accompanied by a copy of the FCI or EKU Working Certificate or an excerpt from the Coursing/Luring licence card, containing the confirmation, by the member country in which the holder and/or owner has his/her permanent place of residence, that the dog has passed the trial as well as details of the given trial.

7.5. To enter a dog in the Champion Class, a copy of one of the following diplomas must be enclosed with the entry form:

-         International Beauty Champion (INT CH);

-         National Champion of an FCI member or of an FCI recognised country.

8. Qualifications and placing

8.1. The qualifications given by the judges must correspond to the following definitions:

8.1.1. EXCELLENT (SP, Certificate Candidate, pink ribbon) may only be awarded to a dog which comes very close to the ideal standard of the breed, which is presented in excellent condition, displays a harmonious, well-balanced temperament, and is of high class and has excellent posture. It must have the typical features of its sex. Its superior characteristics in respect of its breed permit that minor imperfections can be ignored.

8.1.2. VERY GOOD (VH, red ribbon) may only be awarded to a dog which possesses the typical features of its breed and which has well-balanced proportions and is in correct condition. A few minor faults may be tolerated. This award can only be granted to a dog that Shows class.

8.1.3. GOOD (H, blue ribbon) is to be awarded to a dog that possesses the main features of its breed however Showing faults, subject to these are not concealed.

8.1.4. SUFFICIENT (R, yellow ribbon) must be awarded to a dog which corresponds adequately to its breed, without possessing the generally accepted characteristics, or whose physical condition leaves something to be desired.

8.1.5. DISQUALIFIED (0, grey ribbon) must be awarded to a dog which does not correspond to the type required by the standard, which Shows a behaviour clearly not in line with its standard or aggressive behaviour, which has testicular abnormalities, has dental flaw or jaw anomaly, Shows a colour and/or coat imperfection or clearly Shows signs of albinism. This qualification shall also be awarded to dogs that correspond so little to a single feature of the breed that its health is threatened. It should furthermore be awarded to dogs that Show eliminating faults in regard to the breed standard.

8.1.6. Dogs that cannot be awarded one of the above qualifications shall be released from the ring with CANNOT BE JUDGED (EVH, brown ribbon). This rating is to be given to any dog, which does not move, constantly jumps up and down on its handler or tries to get out of the ring which makes it impossible to assess the gait and the movement or if a dog avoids constantly to be examined by the judge and makes it impossible to inspect bite and teeth, anatomy and structure, tail or testicles, or if traces of operations or treatments can be observed that seem to make attempted deception likely. The same applies if the judge has ample reason to suspect operations that were intended to correct the original condition or feature  (e.g. of the eyelid, ear or tail). The reason why the dog got the given rate has to be stated in the written report.

8.2. Places are accompanied by the following ribbons:

-         1st Place – red ribbon;

-         2nd Place – blue ribbon;

-         3rd Place – yellow ribbon;

-         4th Place – green ribbon.

8.3. The rosettes given on the Show are accompanied by the following rosette-cards:

CACIB – white rosette with white streamers; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘C.A.C.I.B – Subject to confirmation by the FCI’ must be presented.

Reserve CACIB (RES-CACIB) – orange rosette with orange streamers; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘RES-C.A.C.I.B. – Subject to confirmation by the FCI’ must be presented.

Certificate (SERT) – a rosette with blue outer and white inner circle and black-blue-white or a black, a blue and a white streamers; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Sertifikaat – Certificate’ must be presented.

Junior Sertificate (JUN SERT) – a rosette with blue outer and white inner circle and  a blue and a white streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression “Juunior Sertifikaat – Junior Certificate’.

Best of Breed (TP) – a rosette with red outer and yellow inner circle and a yellow and a red streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Tõu parim – Best of Breed’ must be presented.

Best of Opposite Sex (VSP) – a rosette with green outer and white inner circle and a white and a green streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Vastassugupoole parim – Best of Opposite Sex’ must be presented.

Best of Breed Junior (TPJ) – a rosette with blue outer and red inner circle and a red and a blue streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Tõu parim juunior – Best of Breed Junior’ must be presented.

Best Junior of Opposite Sex (VSP J) – a rosette with blue outer and green inner circle and a blue and a green streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Vastassugupoole parim juunior – Best Junior of Opposite Sex’ must be presented.

Best of Breed Veteran (PV) – a rosette with purple outer and red inner circle and a purple and a red streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Tõu parim veteran – Best of Breed Veteran’ must be presented.

Best Veteran of Opposite Sex (VSP V) – a rosette with purple outer and green inner circle and a purple and a green streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Vastassugupoole parim veteran – Best Veteran of Opposite Sex’ must be presented.

Best of Breed Puppy (TP K) – a rosette with lilac outer and red inner circle and a lilac and a red streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Tõu parim kutsikas– Best of Breed Puppy’ must be presented.

Best Puppy of Opposite Sex (VSP K) – a rosette with lilac outer and green inner circle with a lilac and a green streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Vastassugupoole parim kutsikas– Best Puppy of Opposite Sex’ must be presented.

Promotion Prize (EAH) - a rosette with lilac outer and purple inner circle with a lilac and a purple streamer; on the rosette-card the image of the rosette and the following expression ‘Eriauhind – Promotion Prize’ must be presented.

8.4. The rosettes must correspond to the parameters given in the official Standard of Rosettes Used on EKU Approved Shows (Appendix 1).

8.5. On the rosette-card the place and time of the Show and the Catalogue number of the given dog as well as the signature and/or stamp of the judge must be Shown.

9. Titles and awards.

9.1. On the International Shows the CACIB can be nominated according to the following rules:

9.1.1. CACIB is nominated for each sex and FCI approved breed separately.

9.1.2. The judge awards CACIB and RES-CACIB according to the quality of the dogs without checking whether they meet the conditions regarding age and/or registration with Studbook recognised by the FCI.

9.2. Awarding CAC/JUN CAC.

9.2.1. CAC/JUN CAC is nominated for each sex and FCI approved breed separately.

10. Rings.

10.1. Each participant must receive a written report.

10.2. The Organising Committee must enable the translation of the written reports in Estonian on the Showground.

10.3. The Organising Committee must ensure the judging in the rings as well as all other competitions would not start before the time announced.

10.4. In each ring a desk for writing, chairs and a small table, on which small breeds can be examined, must be placed.

10.5. Snacks, refreshments and hot drinks must be available for the ring personnel.

10.6. Puppy Class:

10.6.1. First the male and then the female puppies are judged, each of them receiving a written report. No qualifications are given. The dogs are called in the same order they are in the Catalogue.

10.6.2. After each puppy has received the written report all the puppies are called back to the ring. The males and females compete separately. The ring-steward lines up the puppies following the numeration in the Catalogue. The judge places four best puppies who may all be rewarded Promotion Prize.

10.6.3. The first male and first female puppy, who have been awarded Promotion Prize, compete for the title Best of Breed Puppy (TP K). The Best Puppy goes on to compete on the Best in Show Puppy competition. The second best receives the title Best Puppy of Opposite Sex (VSP K).

10.7. Junior Class.

10.7.1. First the males and then the females are judged each of them receiving a written report. The dogs are called in the same order they are in the Catalogue.

10.7.2. After each dog has received the written report the ones that have been awarded EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD are called to the ring. The males and females compete separately. The ring-steward lines up the dogs following the numeration in the Catalogue, placing first the ones that received EXCELLENT and then the ones who received VERY GOOD. The judge chooses and places the four best.

10.7.3. The judge awards JUN CAC to the EXCELLENT 1st male and female. In case the dog already is Estonian Junior Champion or cannot accept JUN CAC, the JUN CAC is given to the next dog awarded EXCELLENT, who can accept JUN CAC.

10.7.3. The EXCELLENT 1st male and EXCELLENT 1st female compete for the title Best Junior (TP J). The Best Junior goes on to compete on the Best in Show Junior competition. The second best receives the title Best Junior of Opposite Sex (VSP J).

10.8. Intermediate Class, Open Class, Working Class, Champion Class.

10.8.1 First the males and then the females are judged each one of them receiving a written report. The dogs are called in the same order they are in the Catalogue.

10.8.2 After each dog has received the written report the ones that have been awarded EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD are called to the ring. The males and females compete separately. The ring-steward lines up the dogs following the numeration in the Catalogue, placing first the ones that received EXCELLENT and then the ones who received VERY GOOD. The judge chooses and places the four best.

10.9. Awarding of CAC and CACIB (CACIB only on International Shows).

10.9.1. For CAC and CACIB the EXCELLENT 1st-4th of Intermediate Class, Open Class, Working Class and Champion Class compete.

10.9.2. The ring-steward lines up the dogs in the rank of merit starting from Intermediate Class through to the Champion Class. The judge chooses and places the four best.

10.9.3. The judge may award CACIB to the dog that has received the 1st Place (males and females compete separately). RES-CACIB may be awarded to the 2nd best dog, but only in case CACIB has been awarded to the first one.

10.9.4. CAC is awarded to the dog that has received 1st Place in the competition. In case the dog cannot accept CAC, the CAC is awarded to the next dog in line who can accept it.

10.9.5. In case none of the four dogs already placed can accept CAC, next dogs are placed till the one, that can accept CAC, is reached

10.10. Veteran Class.

10.10.1. First the males and then the females are judged each one of them receiving a written report. The dogs are called in the same order they are in the Catalogue.

10.10.2. After each dog has received the written report the ones that have been awarded EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD are called to the ring. The males and females compete separately. The ring-steward lines up the dogs following the numeration in the Catalogue, placing first the ones that received EXCELLENT and then the ones who received VERY GOOD. The judge chooses and places the four best.

10.10.3. The EXCELLENT 1st male and EXCELLENT 1st female compete for the titles of Best Veteran (TP V – goes on to competes on the Best in Show Veteran competition) and Best Veteran of Opposite Sex (VSP V).

10.11. Best of Sex competition.

10.11.1. The EXCELLENT 1st-4th of Junior Class, CAC/CACIB Competition and Veteran Class are called to the ring. Males and females compete separately. The judge chooses and places four best. 1st-placed male and 1st-placed female compete for the title Best of Breed (TP). The Best of Breed goes on to compete on the Best in Group competition. The second best receives the title Best of Opposite Sex (VSP).

10.12. Breeder Class.

10.12.1. In the Breeders Class four dogs of the same breed from the same kennel or by the same breeder are judged. The four dogs must be from at least two different parents’ combinations and must have been awarded at least VERY GOOD on the given Show. Puppies cannot be entered to the Breeder Class.

10.12.2. Each group receives a written report and a qualification.

10.12.3. After each group has received the written report the ones who have been awarded EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD are called to the ring. The ring-steward lines up the groups following the numeration in the Catalogue, placing first the ones that received EXCELLENT and then the ones who received VERY GOOD. The judge chooses and places the four best.

10.12.4. The EXCELLENT 1st group goes on to compete on the Best Breeder of the Show competition.

10.13. Progeny Class.

10.13.1. In the Progeny Class a male/female with four offspring from at least two different combinations of parents are judged. All the dogs must have been awarded at least VERY GOOD on the given Show. Puppies cannot be entered to the Progeny Class.

10.13.2. Each group receives a written report and a qualification.

10.13.3. After each group has received the written report the ones who have been awarded EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD are called to the ring. The ring-steward lines up the groups following the numeration in the Catalogue, placing first the ones that received EXCELLENT and then the ones who received VERY GOOD. The judge chooses and places the four best.

10.13.4. The EXCELLENT 1st group goes on to compete on the Best Progeny Class of the Show competition.

10.14. Brace Competition.

10.14.1. On the Brace Competition a brace of one female and one male of the same breed belonging to the same owner and presented by one handler is judged. Both dogs must have been awarded at least VERY GOOD on the same Show. Puppies cannot be entered to the Brace Competition.

10.14.2. Each brace receives a written report and a qualification.

10.14.3. After each brace has received the written report the ones who have been awarded EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD are called to the ring. The ring-steward lines up the braces following the numeration in the Catalogue, placing first the ones that received EXCELLENT and then the ones who received VERY GOOD. The judge chooses and places the four best.

10.14.4.The EXCELLENT 1st brace goes on to compete on the Best Brace of the Show competition.

10.15. The breeds of the same FCI Group should be judged on the same day.

10.16. In case there are few participants on the Show, the combined Groups are allowed.

10.17. In case there are too many breeds in a Groups sub-grouping can be used following the FCI nomenclature of dog breeds. The whole Group should be judged by one judge.

10.18. The winners of the Group Competitions can participate the Best in Show competition.

10.19. On the rosettes marking the places in the Best in Show, Group Competitions, Best in Show Puppy, Best in Show Junior, Best in Show Veteran, Best Breeder Class, Best Progeny Class and Best Brace competition, the main colour should be as follows:

-         1st Place – red;

-         2nd Place – blue;

-         3rd Place – yellow;

-         4th Place – green.

11. Confirmation of the CACIB

11.1 The CACIB proposals must be issued by the appropriate judges. The final confirmation is made by the FCI.

11.2 The CACIB or RES-CACIB rosette-card, handed to the exhibitor, represents proof that the given dog has been proposed for a CACIB award.

11.3 Latest three months after the Show, two copies of the Catalogue and the list of the dogs proposed for the CACIB and the RES-CACIB must be forwarded to the FCI by the Show Committee.

11.4 While sending the Catalogues and the list of CACIB and RES-CACIB nominees the organisers must also pay the FCI fee on each dog appearing in the Catalogue. The amount is set by the FCI General Assembly.

11.5 The CACIB/RES-CACIB lists must correspond to the following rules:

11.5.1 The numeration must start from number one and should not be interrupted.

11.5.2 Males and females must be entered separately.

11.5.3 The breeds must be listed according to the name used in their country of origin, followed by the name in Estonian.

11.5 The list must contain the following information:

-         Breed and variety;

-         Catalogue number;

-         Competition Class in which the dog participated;

-         Name of the dog;

-         Studbook number;

-         Sex;

-         D.O.B.;

-         Name of the owner;

-         Name of the judge.

11.6 If a dog is not included in the CACIB list (e.g. it was overlooked), the proposal card can be accepted as proof provided that no other dog of the same breed and sex has been included in the list.

12. Confirmation of the Certificate (CAC)

12.1 The Show Committee must send two Catalogues with results to the EKU Office within one month from the Show.

12.2 While sending the Catalogues the organisers must also pay the EKU Show fee on each dog appearing in the Catalogue.

13. Duties of the organisers on judges

13.1. The organisers must send a written invitation to the judge. The judge is obliged to answer the organisers in writing. For the invitation the official invitation-form confirmed by EKU Board must be used.

13.2. The foreign judge, who does not have the right to judge Group Competitions, may only do so with the written permission by the Kennel Union of his/her country of living. The same rule applies for judging the Best in Show unless the judge in an all-rounder.

13.4. Both the organiser of the Show and the judge are bound to keep to the written agreement; cancellation is only permitted for reasons of force majeure or by mutual agreement with the judge. If either of the sides decides to cancel the agreement, s/he must compensate for all the possible costs that may have incurred for the other side.

13.5. The judge must be informed about the breeds and numbers of dogs s/he is scheduled to judge after the registration for the Show has finished.

13.6. Unless agreed otherwise, the organisers must compensate the following expenses:

13.6.1. Transportation costs from the judge’s place of living to the Showplace, including the costs for airline transportation, travelling from and to the bus and/or train station or the port, as well as travelling from the hotel/place of staying to the showground and back unless the Organising Committee provides the transportation.  To avoid any misunderstandings, it is suggested the Show committee provides the plane tickets themselves. The judge has the right to use the airline transportation (economy class only) provided the distance exceeds 300 km (one-way).

13.6.2. Housing, including booking expenses. A judge should be provided with accommodation in a single room. Unless it is possible to arrive and leave on the day of the Show, the expenses of the previous and/or next day should be compensated as well.

13.6.3. Liability insurance.

13.6.4. Three meals (breakfast, lunch, supper).

13.7. The pocket money should be minimum 25 of EUR per day of judging.

13.8. The working language must be agreed beforehand and the organiser must provide an interpreter or ring steward and secretary fluent on the given language.

13.9. The judge may not judge any dog that s/he is or has either owned, co-owned or bred.

13.10 Duties of the organisers:

13.10.1. The judge should not travel and/or socialise with the exhibitors s/he is judging on the given Show.

13.10.2. The judge should not be expected to judge more than 80 dogs per day. Following previous written agreement between the judge and the organisers the judge may judge 81-100 dogs per day. EKU Board must be informed of the necessity as well as the agreement latest one week before the Show.

13.10.3. The judge is not allowed to consult the Catalogue of the Show before the end of the Show.

13.10.4. The judge is forbidden to smoke or drink alcohol in the Show ring while judging.

13.10.5. In case the need to change the judge arises, the organisers must ensure the new judge does not judge any dog that s/he is or has either owned, co-owned or bred (according to the information on entry forms). In case any such dogs have been entered, the Organising Committee must inform the owner(s) of the change and refund the entry fee.

13.10.6. Breeds cannot be changed inbetween the judges once the division of breeds has been officially anounced for registration.

14. Ring assistants

14.1 There must be at least two ring assistance of whom at least one is attested by EKU in the ring. There can also be an interpreter (p 13.8. or the current Regulations).

14.2 Duties of the ring steward.

14.2.1. Getting the inventory ready for judging;

14.2.2. Calling in the Classes, lining up the exhibitors following the numeration in the Catalogue, checking the ID-numbers of the dogs who have obtained CACIB, RES-CACIB and/or CAC when necessary;

14.2.3. Notifying the judge of any changes in the order of the exhibitors or any irregular entry;

14.2.4. Distributing the ribbons, rosette-cards, rosettes and written reports;

14.2.5. Updating the information sheet;

14.2.6. Following the judge’s instructions;

14.2.7. Keeping order in the ring;

14.2.8. Calling for additional security measures where necessary.

14.3 Duties of the ring secretary.

14.3.1. Writing the report following the dictation by the judge or the interpreter;

14.3.2. Organising all the necessary paperwork in the ring as well as filling in the Ring Catalogue.

14.4. Duties of the organisers.

14.4.1. The organisers must send a written invitation to the ring assistant. The ring assistant is obliged to answer the organisers in writing.

14.4.2. The organisers must send a written report to the Assembly of Ringstewards of EKU within one or two months from the Show. The form is available from EKU Office.

14.5. Unless agreed otherwise, the organisers must compensate the following expenses:

14.5.1. Transportation costs from the ring assistant’s permanent place of living to the showground;

14.5.2. Housing, including booking expenses;

14.5.3. Salary;

14.5.4. Three meals (breakfast, lunch, supper).

15. Complaints and penalties

15.1 Any decision made by the judge regarding the merits of a dog, the placing, as well as the awarding of titles and certificates is final and indisputable, unless the judge has violated formalities and existing rules.

15.2 In case the Show Regulations are offended the Organising Committee has the right to disqualify the given dog.

15.3 All complaints on violation of formalities and existing rules must be submited to the Organising  Committee in writing latest by the end of the day the given breed is judged against the deposit of a sum of money as surety. Only the owner or handler of the given dog may submit the complaint. If the complaint is found to be justified the surety will be returned.

15.4 All complaints on how the Show was run can be submited to EKU Board.
